Professional Development
ERTOA PD
ERTOA provides professional development (PD) to its members, tailored specifically to the ERTO environment. This PD is provided to members in conjunction with the ERTOA member meetings, or upon request by members at any time during the year.
PD sessions are designed to be relevant to various staff within member organisations. Some are designed for trainers and assessors, some are designed for RTO Managers, whilst others are applicable to a range of attendees.
As ERTOA is a not-for-profit association, PD sessions are run on a cost-recovery basis.

Whilst ERTOA has a general list of topics covered, bespoke PD is also provided through the ERTOA Secretariat and VET PODS. Below are examples of PD sessions run by ERTOA and provided to members:
- Assessor Obligations
- AVETMISS Data Management
- Mapping
- Marketing your RTO
- Moderation
- Post-Assessment Validation
- Pre-Assessment Validation
- Train the Trainer
- VET Sector – What’s Changing
Where possible, live documents are used within these PD sessions. For example, when mapping, members are asked to bring their actual documents and during the workshop, these documents are reviewed in line with the PD provided.
PD sessions often contain a combination of topics. For example, Mapping and Pre-Assessment Validation are often combined, as is Post-Assessment Validation and Moderation.
